Official History and Department Overview
Establishment of the Directorate
The Directorate of Nagaland State Lotteries was established in the year 1972 under the supervision of the Finance Department, Government of Nagaland. Originally, the Secretary of Finance acted as the Ex-officio Director of the department. Over the decades, the department has grown substantially to regulate, host, and monitor lottery activities in a structured manner.
Nature of Work & Core Activities
The core mandate of this Directorate is to conduct, organize, and monitor different lottery draws through government-appointed distributors. The operations are semi-technical in nature and require extensive cooperation with other Indian states and companies to sustain market transparency and regulatory compliance.
Nagaland Lotteries is widely known for hosting the popular "Dear Lottery" schemes, which run three times daily:
- 1:00 PM Draw: Dear Morning Lottery
- 6:00 PM Draw: Sikkim State / Dear Day Lottery
- 8:00 PM Draw: Dear Evening Lottery
Objective & Revenue Generation
Apart from offering recreational gaming opportunities, the revenue generated from lottery ticket sales helps fund various social developmental works, healthcare programs, infrastructure projects, and public services within the state of Nagaland.
